Millworks arts director and in-house artist Tara Chickey created this piece at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It was a true blessing for me to paint a large, colorful, and expressive work to help channel the uncertainty I was feeling at the time,” Chickey said.
Chickey painted the mountains drawing on memories of her travels to Iceland – channeling sparse, glacial imagery.
Bright, hopeful colors bring this piece together – a bright mountainous landscape featuring a group of birds flying in flock.
For Chickey, the creation of the mural provided grounding for her during an uncertain era.
“This felt like the epitome of the concept of art as a healing modality,” she said. “I feel honored to have been chosen to work on this piece at that time in space.”
The Artist

Tara Chickey
"My art, like most, blends memory and lived experiences, merging the residue of my life with how my mind recalls these events. This results in a mix of false memories, hallucinations, and misinterpretations alongside real documentation and transparent depictions. Even untruths in this context carry sincerity. My travels, connection to nature, and my relationship with my daughter have all nurtured my personal growth, enriching my artwork. These relationships have led my aesthetics in unexpected directions and continue to inspire my work."
