Rope Bridges Connect Us Together
- Artist
- Tara Chickey
- Location
- 1507 N 3rd St, Harrisburg, PA 17102

Artist Tara Chickey based this mural on a drawing of mountains connected by rope bridges done by her then five-year-old daughter Kria.
“Motherhood has been such an inspiration to me, both internally and externally,” the Millworks arts director explained. “And Kria and I have been collaborating on doodles and drawings since she could hold a pencil or brush.”
To her, the wall’s N. 3rd Street location perfectly captured the energy of Kria’s sketch – and seemed like the perfect place to put the drawing large-scale.
“The vastness of space, remnants of landscape and bird life felt so fitting,” Chickey said of the piece. “I wanted to use color that felt vibrant and soothing at the same time, bringing a sense of calm to this space.”
The Artist

Tara Chickey
"My art, like most, blends memory and lived experiences, merging the residue of my life with how my mind recalls these events. This results in a mix of false memories, hallucinations, and misinterpretations alongside real documentation and transparent depictions. Even untruths in this context carry sincerity. My travels, connection to nature, and my relationship with my daughter have all nurtured my personal growth, enriching my artwork. These relationships have led my aesthetics in unexpected directions and continue to inspire my work."
