Hall Manor, New Board Members, and More!

“So what do you guys do in the off season?”

We get this question a lot.

February is a sleepy little month for mural painting – but rest assured we are hard at work getting things in line for this spring and summer. We’re starting to assess what mural walls will need repairs from winter wear later this month.

Our submission deadline for artist portfolios for Hall Manor projects also just passed – and behind the scenes, we are hard at work reviewing more than 440 applications!

In case you missed it: Our big project for 2025 will be bringing murals to Hall Manor in Harrisburg. Wall murals, ground murals, a crosswalk mural — and even a basketball court mural.

We spent the end of 2024 chatting with Hall Manor residents and community members to find out what kind of art they’d like to see, and they gave us some great ideas. Their requested themes? Community heroes, scenes of nature, and cultural diversity.

We’re gearing up for this big year by welcoming two new members to our Board of Directors this month – Nissa Kelly and John Davis, who will be helping us expand our operations.

Nissa has a wealth of experience in project management and fundraising. John brings to the table more than 20 years as an art teacher helping others channel their creativity. We feel very lucky to have them.

As we gear up for spring, we’re also in the process of reflection – thinking back to our November housewarming party. We are thankful to everyone who came out and made the event a success. It was so fun to celebrate with you all.

To those who asked, we’re in the process of figuring out how we can best use our new Midtown studio space to serve our community.

Right now, it’s the happy home of the paint-by-numbers murals (by artists Blake Showers and Reina Wooden) created at the housewarming (to be installed in 2025) as well as a bunch of our painting supplies, and us (!) when we meet up.

And that’s our February in a nutshell – stay tuned for Hall Manor artist selections soon!
